How to Contour for beginners

Hey everyone, welcome back to another post. I am happy I was able to get this post out, this post was long overdue. For today’s post I wanted to talk about how to contour. Contouring is a application technique used to create shadows and bring out your facial structure. This helps makes certain parts of the face stand out and also appear slimmer. The highlight part of contour and highlighting helps bring out the glow in your face of where the sun naturally hits.

Basic Contouring

So first I want to talk about the basics with contouring. When it comes to contouring you want to choose a shade that is one shade lighter down from your skin tone. Also another tip is knowing your face shape. One thing I notice a lot is that some people tend to contour the same. Your not going to want to do that. Your going to want to determine your face shape first so you know what areas to contour. For example, I have an heart shaped face so I try to always bring out my cheek bones and pay attention to around my chin area. Another tip is making sure to use the right product. But this would be all up to you!

Steps to contouring
  1. Prime with a primer also a moisturizer for your face.
  2. Apply your favourite foundation. With a damp beauty blender.
  3. To contour, your going to want to follow the structure and shadows of your own face shape. If you want to define your jaw line your going to want to blend powder or cream along your jawline. If you want to bring out your cheek bones follow the same steps. Here’s another tip if you love your nose you do not need to contour your nose!
  4. Set your make up, remember to along your T zone. Your going to want to do this with a setting powder. After setting with a powder you can set with a setting spray. Your going to just spray this and this will bring your makeup altogether!

I hope this post was helpful, I tried to get as detailed as possible. I hope you all enjoyed today’s post. If any of you have any questions about contour and highlighting please leave a comment. I am always happy to help and I always love reading your comments and questions. I must say contour and highlighting (well more contouring) is one of my favourite parts to a completed makeup look. I love bringing out my natural cheek bones and just playing around with it. What are some of your favourite products for contour and highlighting? Do you find it easy or difficult when it comes to contouring? Please leave a comment, like and please share! Also if you haven’t checked out my last post you can find that HERE.

Favourite Lip Products

Good morning everyone, welcome back to another blog post. Happy Monday back to a whole new week, I hope everyone morning is going good so far? I noticed I haven’t been doing much make up haul or posts lately and I want to start posting more posts related to beauty for the next upcoming weeks. I decided to do a post on my current favourite lip products I am loving so far, I am so obsessed with these products I am using these four for pretty much every make up look I do. The first three I am obsessed with is from the Fenty beauty line, I am loving the glosses and lipstick. I love the texture and how it feels I first bought the shimmering rose nude loved that and had to try the diamond milk one. I was first hesitant to buying it because I honestly thought it would be like all the other clear glosses but I decided to give it a try, it was more like a last minute quick pick up purchase. But to be honest I love it as much as the fenty glow one it is pretty much the same result I love how it just looks on me. One of the things I love about the fenty beauty line is that the beauty products she makes is for all skin tones and women everywhere, and that is one thing the beauty industry needs more for women. As a women of colour one of the hard things for me when it comes to buying products especially either foundation or lip shades is that its hard for me to find ones that match or go with me perfectly. This is a brand I would continually buy from, I haven’t tried wearing it over other lip shades I usually just wear it alone.

The next product shown that I love is the Blackup gloss, I got this on sale but sadly I found out that it is not for sale on the Sephora site anymore and I am not sure if it would be back. So backup is a brand dedicated to women of colour and it was developed by women of colour and it caters to women of darker skin tones. This is one of the reasons why I fell in love with this product it does what the brand says, this gloss looks so good on me it blends in so well with my skin tone. The gloss is kind of like a clear gloss with a nude undertone it carries different under tone colours, so you can get a rose tone or a more brown tone and etc that is the best way I can explain since I cant bring it up on sephora. The gloss doesn’t come off to sticky the only issue is that when used it sometimes comes out separated from the colour so sometimes clear gloss comes out first then it coming out together.

So those are so far all and current favourite lip products am using when doing my make up. I do not want to go further in more detail with these because i just currently did a Sephora review post on my blog and I did go through these products already. But I wanted to do a separate post on what am currently loving at the moment for winter, if you haven’t tried fenty yet I recommend you do I can not find one thing I dont like. And if you are a women of colour and find it hard like me finding shades that go with your skin tone there is your brand, even if you are not of colour you can also check out the brand they have other products pretty much any one of any shade can still use. That is it for today’s post like & comment i love hearing from you all my next post will be up Wednesday at 3pm Toronto time lol, I am so happy I am finally on a posting schedule!

Makeup Application

Good morning everyone! And welcome to another blog post. I am excited because today I can finally get two blog posts out for this week, I finally have settled on a schedule I can work with to get back to being consistent. For today’s post I decided to do a post on make up application, tomorrow is finally Christmas and its the best time to put out a make up post. From since having my blog I get questions on make up and lash application, I’ve also get tons of questions away from my blog. I decided to do a post make up application step by step for those who would like ideas on the application process.

  1. Skin Perpetration –  If its one thing I had learn while I was studying to become an esthetican it was that our face is the base to any make up application. So if you want a smooth glowing make up application it starts with the face. Another great thing to learn is that every girl wants that perfect application but if you suffer from skin issues example severe oily skin, breakouts, pimples, dry skin and dont treat these issues and cover it up I am letting you know it wont help. Everything underneath needs to be treated first before covering it up, if its not then you wont get the perfect foundation you need for putting on a great application.
  2. Products made for you! – One big mistake I noticed a lot of girls and older women do that hey I even have done is buy products not for you. Now to get a great application you also have to get the products your skin needs and to also make your application last longer. Your probably wondering ” But how do I know what my skin needs?” well we would need to analyse our skin and get to know it. But there is a difference between “Skin Type” and “Skin Condition”, everyone has a skin type but not everyone has a skin condition. The difference between skin type and condition is conditions can be dehydration, dryness, sun damage, hyper pigmentation ,wrinkles and acne. Which skin types are normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive. When we start getting to know what our skin needs and is lacking we will then have a better understanding of what make up and skin care to buy.
  3. The Right Products – Okay! So you studied your skin, next would be buying the right skin products and make up for your skin. We all love recommending the next best product that came out but do we ever ask our self “Wait! is it for my skin!?” and then we wondering why our foundation is turning orange or why this foundation is making your skin oily. The next step would be to buy the right skincare and picking out the right products either it be Sephora or MAC.
  4. Products – When buying the right products it serves good to your skin when you either a make up lover (like myself) or occasionally wear make up. Buying the right foundation, primer, setting powder and moisturiser make a big deal when its made for your skin it makes your application come out flawless and lasting so much longer. Also a bonus to doing this is one your skin will love you and second your skin will less break out give problems because your using products that is helping your skin while getting to wear as much make up as you would like.

Using these four tools will help you with your make up application process, when applying anything over your skin you want the base to be looking great for whatever that goes on top to look great. Look at everything like this, if you have a lot of acne or dry patches and old skin cells on your skin and you dont properly wash you face or prep it for make up and just apply your make up will come out uneven and looking dull and wouldn’t last that long. You 100% want to remember to always have a perpetration before anything, your skin will start to allow improvements. I hope all this info helps, I will soon make a second half to this post on the actually make up application process. Remember to like & comment I always love to hear from you all. Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a great rest of your day!
